101 and counting..

What a beautiful morning. The sun is shining brighter, the air seems fresher, not a cloud in the sky. To some it may seem like another fall morning, but something is different about today. Could it be I'm feeling more confident about the nation's economy since the bailout bill passed? Nah, that bill actually sucks. Maybe it's a great day because O.J. is finally getting what he deserves. He did, but that really doesn't do anything for me. Then it dawns on me. I know why today is so magnificent, the Cubs lost! Not only did they lose in the first round of the playoffs, they got swept. The number 1 team in the NL sucks. They are so bad they've lost 9 straight playoff games. I can't wait until the next Cubs fan trys to talk trash about the Cards. Yeah, we didn't make the playoffs, but we also won as many postseason games as the Cubs did. And we didn't choke under high expectations, the baby bears did. What else would you expect from a team that hasn't won a championship in 100 years? Also, the Cubs spent almost $20 million more dollars than we did. For what? For an embarrassing exit from the playoffs. Nothing was better than listening to Wrigley Field go silent in games 1 and 2. The place could've been empty for all we know. At least all the cubs fans were together so they could cry on each other's shoulders. A team of futility. The overwhelming pressure to win seems to grip the whole city. Eventually it squeezed the life out of the Cubs and their bats. With all that's going on in the world, the fourth place finish by the red birds, it's nice to have something go right. On behalf of all Cards fans, Thank you Cubs!
